Podimetrics steps up fundraising with $45M series C

Investors kicked in $45 million in a series C financing round for Podimetrics Inc., the maker of a device that provides early indication of developing diabetic foot ulcers. D1 Capital Partners led the round with new investor Medtech Convergence Fund and an undisclosed strategic investor. Polaris Partners and Scientific Health Developed returned for the series C, which brought the total raised by Podimetrics to date to more than $73 million.

Regor Therapeutics Group and Eli Lilly and Co. have inked a collaboration and licensing deal to co-develop therapies for metabolic disorders in a deal worth more than $1.5 billion. Under terms of the agreement, Lilly is gaining access to Regor IP to support its development of therapies for obesity and diabetes.

Ilex Medical Ltd. has injected $3.2 million into cell therapy company Kadimastem Ltd., as it prepares to list on the Nasdaq. As part of the investment, Ilex Medical was granted a total of 1,407,130 options (60% coverage) in two series, at exercise prices of $2.2 and $2.7 per share (up to 100% from the share price at the transaction). If exercised, it would increase the total investment to $6.7 million.

Lexicon sells Xermelo, turns focus to neuropathic pain program, R&D

In a move that Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. chief Lonnel Coats said will focus the company on its phase II neuropathic pain program, The Woodlands, Texas-based venture has agreed to sell one of its two approved products, the carcinoid syndrome diarrhea therapy Xermelo (telotristat ethyl), to Tersera Therapeutics LLC for $159 million in cash.
