Stablix Therapeutics Inc. has raised $63 million in series A funding to pioneer a novel class of small-molecule drugs, designed to selectively stabilize proteins that would otherwise undergo degradation in the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS). It represents what its founding investors consider the first company focused on inhibiting the UPS in a target-specific fashion.
Esco Lifesciences Group Ltd. has closed what it claims to be the largest private fundraising round by an Asia-based life sciences tools company. The Singapore-headquartered life sciences product company raised $200 million in an oversubscribed series A and crossover round. The financing was led by Vivo Capital and Novo Holdings A/S, with participation from new investors, including China Investment Corp. and Singapore-based global investor EDBI.

A check up by Khosla Ventures determined that Docbot Inc. was healthy enough for the prominent biotech investor to take the lead in a $4 million series A round. The new funds bring the artificial intelligence company to a total of $8.5 million in capital raised to date. Other participants included Bold Capital Partners, Collaborative Fund and Boutique Venture Partners.
Heru Inc. has raised $30 million in a series A financing to support the further development of its artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled, wearable eye diagnostic and vision correction platform. D1 Capital Partners led the round, with participation from Softbank Ventures Opportunity Fund, Maurice Ferre, Frederic Moll, Krillion Ventures and a consortium of investors with expertise in developing, launching and scaling medical technologies.

Less than a year after Novartis AG's acquisition of optogenetics specialist Vedere Bio Inc., its successor Vedere Bio II Inc. is launching with $77 million in series A financing, led by Octagon Capital. The company will develop earlier-stage assets than those Novartis purchased, including new, mutation-agnostic optogenetics technology to improve upon current gene therapies aimed at restoring functional vision to people with vision loss due to photoreceptor death.
LONDON – Technology commercialization specialist Eurekare SA has arrived on the scene after raising a $60 million series A, with which it plans to seed fund the formation of microbiome and synthetic biology startups and invest in later-stage rounds of companies specializing in those two fields.
Soteria Biotherapeutics Inc., a company developing switchable bispecific T-cell engagers to treat patients with solid tumors, has raised $42 million in series A financing to fund early development of a pipeline of candidates with potential in validated cancer targets, it said. Roche Venture Fund and 5AM Ventures led the round, with further investments from M Ventures, Novartis Venture Fund and Alexandria Venture Investments.
