ITM marks a milestone in radiotherapeutic tumor therapy

With positive results from a phase III study, ITM Isotope Technologies Munich SE said it has reached a landmark. The clinical trial of ITM-11, a synthetic, targeted radiotherapeutic agent for treating inoperable, progressive grade 1 or grade 2 gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, met its primary endpoint of prolonging progression-free survival when compared to the mTOR inhibitor everolimus, a targeted molecular therapy and a standard of care.

ITM raises €188M for radiopharmaceutical pipeline

Isotope Technologies Munich SE (ITM) raised €188 million ($204 million) in a funding round that will largely be used to advance and expand the company’s radiopharmaceutical pipeline. The funds, which come a year after ITM raised €255 million, are a sign of growing investor interest in the company’s products and the radiopharma market, Steffen Schuster, CEO of ITM, told BioWorld.

The radiopharma field has garnered increasing attention in recent years due to big-ticket deals like Bayer AG's $2.9 billion acquisition of Algeta ASA and Novartis AG's nearly $6 billion spent on buying Advanced Accelerator Applications SA and Endocyte Inc. As a result, competition is ratcheting up and pipelines are exploding with new combinations of different drugs. The global radiopharmaceuticals market was estimated to be valued at $6.7 billion in 2020, a number expected to reach $11.5 billion by 2027, according to a 2022 William Blair report.
