More than 18 million people with a history of cancer were alive in the U.S. at the beginning of 2022, up from just 3 million in 1971, according to the 14th edition of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Cancer Progress Report. And that number is expected to rise to 26 million by 2040.
