Smith+Nephew snags Integra’s Extremity Orthopedics for $240M

Smith+Nephew plc has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the Extremity Orthopedics business of Integra Lifesciences Holdings Corp. for $240 million in cash. The deal, which is slated to close around the end of this year, gives the London-based company a catalog of devices, implants and instruments that generated $90 million in revenue in 2019. Read More

Device makers may see privacy legislation in California and other U.S. states as a source of regulatory balkanization, but that very same problem is cropping up in the international arena. Omnivision Technologies Inc. has developed the first all-in-one RGB-infrared image sensor designed for medical use. The OHO2A1S sensor offers simultaneous white-light RGB and infrared monochrome captures in one complementary metal oxide semiconductor sensor, enabling endoscopes used in oncology to be produced with just one sensor, reducing the size, cost and heat output of the devices. TORONTO – Toronto-based Oncall Health Inc. has raised CA$7.9 million (US$6 million) in series A funding to help health care organizations lessen COVID-19’s impact on their EMR and other operational programs.
